Job summary

CluePoints in Belgium is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to own Azure and AKS infrastructure, drive cost efficiency and reliability for our clinical-trial platform.

You will lead cross-team initiatives, implement GitOps (Argo CD), IaC (Terraform), and observability practices while ensuring security controls in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SRE, platform or cloud infra with production ownership.
• Production experience with Azure networking, identity/RBAC and managed services.
• Hands-on Kubernetes (AKS) in production.
• IaC with Terraform and GitOps (Argo CD) in CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong observability and incident handling capabilities.
• Experience operating MySQL or PostgreSQL databases with backup/DR.
• Proficient scripting in Python, Go or Bash.
• Knowledge of security controls in regulated environments (ISO 27001, SOC 2).
• Clear written English and cross-team leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Design, operate and evolve the Azure/AKS foundation (networking, WAF, DNS, certs).
• Run GitOps delivery with Argo CD and maintain CI runner estate.
• Develop Terraform modules and automated testing for self-service environments.
• Own logging, metrics, alerting; forecast capacity and reduce alert noise.
• Lead incident response and blameless postmortems; participate in on-call rotation.
• Operate managed databases and storage with robust backup/DR and migrations.
• Run internal services (LLM gateway, review tooling) and define contracts for adoption.
• Implement platform security controls and drive cloud cost optimization.

The Role

The Senior SRE is a senior engineering role in CluePoints' Site Reliability Engineering team, keeping the platform behind our clinical-trial software secure, available and cost-efficient. You will own significant parts of the Azure and Kubernetes estate end to end, lead technical initiatives across teams, and raise the engineering bar for the team.

Job Requirements

Must Have

• 5+ years in SRE, platform or cloud infrastructure engineering, with production ownership of business-critical SaaS systems.
• Deep hands-on experience with Azure (networking, identity/RBAC, managed services) in production.
• Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes, ideally AKS, in production.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code skills with Terraform, plus GitOps (Argo CD or similar) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid observability practice (Prometheus/Grafana, Elastic/Kibana or similar) and a track record of reducing alert noise and leading incidents.
• Experience operating managed databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), including backup and DR.
• Strong scripting in Python, Go or Bash.
• Experience implementing security controls in a regulated or audited environment (ISO 27001, SOC 2; GxP a plus).
• Clear written English, sound judgement on trade-offs, and the ability to lead work across teams.

Nice to Have

• Service mesh experience (Istio, Gateway API).
• Temporal, Vault/External Secrets, KEDA or Trino.
• Experience running LLM/AI platforms.
• FinOps experience.
• Life sciences or clinical-trial industry background.

Job Responsibilities

Platform & Infrastructure

• Design, operate and evolve the Azure and AKS foundation: networking, ingress/Gateway API (Istio), WAF, DNS, certificates and patching.
• Run GitOps delivery with Argo CD and maintain the CI runner estate.
• Build and maintain Terraform modules, automated testing and validation, and self-service environment provisioning.

Reliability & Observability

• Own logging, metrics and alerting, reduce alert noise and forecast capacity.
• Lead infrastructure incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Take part in the on-call rotation.

Data & Shared Services

• Run managed databases and storage with robust backup/restore, disaster recovery and retention, including migrations and major version upgrades.
• Operate shared middleware such as secret management and job scheduling.
• Run internal engineering and AI services (LLM gateway, review and test-analysis tooling, epoxy environments), defining contracts and supporting adoption.

Security, Cost & Leadership

• Implement platform security controls and produce audit evidence.
• Drive cloud cost optimisation.
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives, write design proposals and mentor engineers.
