Huawei Technologies Research and Development Belgium NV is a center of excellence for silicon photonics. In Gent, the Caliopa department drives advanced silicon photonic chip solutions to strengthen Huawei’s optoelectronics business.

The Photonics Design Expert will lead concept studies, define complex chip architectures, and drive co-design of modulators, detectors, and driver systems with advanced packaging to ensure high-speed signal integrity. English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years of work experience in the photonics industry.
• Experience designing and testing silicon photonics with product development experience.
• Experience integrating PICs with EICs, RF ICs and driver circuitry.
• Strong communication with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Responsabilités

• Gaining insights into development trends in optical communication and maintaining Silicon photonics competitiveness.
• Leading concept studies and product development projects from R&D to NPI.
• Defining complex silicon photonics chip architectures for high performance.
• Leading optoelectronic co-design towards modulators, detectors and drivers with 2.5D/3D packaging.
• Collaborating with photonic engineers and product designers on Huawei’s silicon photonics portfolio.
• Coordinating with solution, process and packaging teams to implement architectures and key technologies.
