Job summary

Huawei Gent Research Center in Gent, Belgium, is seeking a Photonics Design Expert to advance silicon photonics components and systems. You will work with a team of photonic engineers and product designers to drive concept studies, device modeling, and product development from R&D to market-ready solutions.

The role requires a PhD in a related field and 5+ years in photonics, with hands-on experience in design tools and integration with RF ICs and driving circuitry.

Qualifications

• In depth knowledge of integrated optics and optoelectronics components and systems.
• Education: Ph.D. in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field; 5+ years in photonics.
• Experience in design and testing of silicon photonics and III-V components; integration with PICs, RF ICs, and driving circuitry.
• Experience in project/product management and bringing new components to market.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team of photonic engineers and product designers to develop silicon photonics devices and products.
• Lead concept studies and product development projects from R&D to NPI.
• Design and model photonic components and circuits; participate in design reviews.
• Define test plans and perform statistical analysis of measurement data in R&D.
• Guide PIC-based system architectures for novel applications; collaborate across global teams.
