Job summary

Pauwels Consulting seeks a Senior SAP Backend Developer to design and implement complex solutions in an S/4HANA environment. You will deliver modular, high-quality ABAP code and ensure governance-aligned architecture while mentoring junior developers.

The role requires 10+ years in SAP ABAP backend, IS-U experience, and strong English. Start date 15/11/2026, 12-month contract with potential extension, based in Brussels, Belgium.

Qualifications

• 10+ years backend development with SAP ABAP.
• 8+ years OO ABAP and extensions like User-Exit, BAdI, Enhancement Spot.
• 8+ years in interface development using IDoc/ALE, BAPI/RFC, SOAP Web Services, and OData.
• 5+ years with SAP ABAP Workbench, Eclipse/ADT, and ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC).
• 3+ years as SAP IS-U developer in utilities.
• Experience in SAP S/4HANA development environments.
• Knowledge of BOR and data migration via LSMW or EMIGALL.
• Knowledge of CDS Views and multiple IS-U domains (Device Management, Billing, Energy Data Management).

Responsibilities

• Propose technical solutions and workload estimates from specs.
• Draft tech specs ensuring architecture and governance compliance.
• Develop modular, reusable ABAP code in S/4HANA.
• Run unit tests, performance tests, and mass processing checks.
• Analyze defects from tests/production with analysts.
• Mentor junior developers and improve frameworks and standards.
