Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting a Senior Principal Scientist to join the Global Pathobiology Team within Preclinical Sciences. This role leads risk assessment, data integration, and decision-making across discovery and development in a cross-disciplinary matrix environment.

The successful candidate will combine anatomic pathology with translational science, biomarkers, and NAMs to support compound progression while driving regulatory confidence and scientific leadership.

Qualifications

DVM or equivalent degree.
PhD in Integrative Pathobiology or related discipline.
Board certification by the American, European, or equivalent College of Veterinary Pathologists, with relevant 5+ years experience in toxicologic pathology, investigative pathology, drug discovery, nonclinical safety, or a biopharmaceutical setting.

Responsibilities

Support drug discovery and development end to end by providing scientific input in toxicology study design and conduct.
Serve as study pathologist on toxicology and pharmacology studies and report integrated results.
Lead with a drug-hunter mindset, integrating pathology with biomarkers and NAMs to generate decision-ready narratives.
Collaborate with SMEs to generate integrated safety assessments and de-risking activities.
Frame pathology findings with risk, options, and impact, including translational relevance.
Advance digital pathology, AI, and data science for insights and workflow improvements.
Interpret data within a fit-for-purpose, weight-of-evidence framework.
