Simera Sense is seeking a Senior Optomechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of high-precision optomechanical systems for space applications, ensuring optimal performance in challenging environments.

The role requires a Master’s degree in engineering and 5–10 years in optomechanical or mechanical engineering, with strong CAD skills and experience with space-qualified testing and materials.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical/Optomechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in mechanical or optomechanical engineering, preferably in space.
• Experience designing and developing optomechanical systems (mounts, lenses, mirrors, sensors, prisms).
• Proficiency in CAD software; ability to lead cross-functional teams across optical, mechanical, thermal, structural, and electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of high-precision optomechanical systems for spaceborne applications.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and high-tolerance drawings.
• Evaluate designs for manufacturability, performance, and reliability.
• Oversee integration of optical and mechanical components and execute test plans (thermal, vibration, shock).
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and manage project milestones and documentation.
