EMW is seeking a hands-on Database Administrator to install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL 12+ and MySQL 8.0+ systems, both standalone and clustered, on-site in Brussels. You will manage users, security, backups, and performance, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable operations.

The role requires strong Linux skills, scripting ability, and practical experience in backup, recovery, and HA/DR implementations.

Qualifications

• Active NATO SECRET security clearance.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with at least one DB technology and 2+ years with the other (MySQL and PostgreSQL).
• Strong knowledge of MySQL architecture and PostgreSQL internals.
• Experience with backup tools and recovery.
• Strong Linux administration skills for database performance.
• Automation mindset with scripting (Bash/Python/Perl).

Responsabilités

• Install, configure, maintain and upgrade PostgreSQL and MySQL instances (standalone/clustered).
• Perform routine maintenance: schema housekeeping, index maintenance, and statistics updates.
• Manage users, roles, privileges and authentication methods.
• Monitor health, performance, backups, and capacity planning.
• Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams; RCA for critical incidents.
• Design and operate HA/DR solutions and disaster recovery runbooks.
