Cochlear, a world‑leading medical device company, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of active hearing implant technologies, surgical instruments, and packaging from concept through first‑in‑human studies.

You will design next‑generation implantable devices in a multidisciplinary team, ensuring safety, quality, and manufacturability while meeting regulatory standards and collaborating with surgeons and external suppliers.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical/related field; Belgian recognition may be required.
• Minimum 10 years’ product design and development using 3D CAD tools.
• Minimum 5 years’ hands-on prototyping, testing, verification, and validation.
• Strong 2D/3D CAD modeling and mechanical drawings; Creo preferred.
• Fluent English in written and spoken communication.

Responsabilités

• Drive mechanical design and innovation for active hearing implant systems.
• Define concepts and translate needs into robust engineering requirements.
• Coordinate prototyping, testing, DFMEA, and design reviews.
• Lead verification/validation strategies and test method development.
• Collaborate with surgeons, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
