Cochlear Limited in Belgium is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of active hearing implant technologies, surgical instruments, and packaging from concept through first‑in‑human studies.

You will drive robust mechanical design, translate clinical and manufacturing needs into engineering requirements, and collaborate with surgeons to optimize usability and performance while ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years' experience in product design and development using 3D CAD.
• 5+ years' hands-on prototyping, testing, verification, and validation.
• Strong experience with 2D and 3D CAD modelling and drawing, ideally Creo.
• Fluent English written and spoken.

Responsabilités

• Lead design and development of electro‑mechanical components for active hearing implant systems.
• Translate clinical, manufacturing, and regulatory needs into engineering requirements.
• Define concepts, evaluate solutions, and collaborate with surgeons to optimize usability.
• Create high‑quality 3D CAD models, drawings, and design documentation.
• Coordinate prototyping and supplier activities to support rapid development.
• Develop and implement verification and validation strategies and tests.
• Ensure quality systems compliance and support manufacturing with design for manufacturability.
