Job summary

Bimona in Brussels is seeking a Senior Functional Analyst to join the traffic data team of a public transport organisation. The assignment is time & material and full-time, Start preferably 3 January 2027, end 31 December 2031, with an estimated volume of about 9,000 hours.

You should have 10+ years of experience as a functional analyst on Agile/Scrum IT projects, and you must speak French or Dutch at C2 level plus English at C1.

Qualifications

Senior Functional Analyst for the traffic data team of a public transport organisation in Brussels. Time & material, January 2027 to December 2031. Full-time. French or Dutch (C2) and English (C1) required.

Description

We are looking for a Senior Functional Analyst to join the traffic data team of a public transport organisation in Brussels. The assignment is time & material and full-time. It starts preferably on 3 January 2027 and runs until 31 December 2031, with an estimated volume of about 9,000 hours. You have at least 10 years of experience as a functional analyst on Agile/Scrum IT projects, and you speak French or Dutch at C2 level plus English at C1.

The team builds and maintains applications that collect and distribute traffic information, from pre-processing and real-time data to post-processing and back-office. This information goes to external parties such as transport operators, neighbouring transport organisations and European transport information platforms. Internally, it feeds real-time timetable changes for control room staff, the calculation of network usage fees and invoicing, the calculation of electricity consumption, and big data systems. You work on new developments as well as on corrective and evolutive maintenance of existing applications.

• Collect and document the needs and requirements of internal and external stakeholders
• Translate those needs into functional and technical specifications for the applications
• Analyse existing processes and propose improvements in efficiency and accuracy
• Write detailed functional specifications and requirements
• Work closely with the development team so the technical solutions match the business requirements
• Write test cases and test scenarios, and run tests to check that the application behaves as agreed
• Carry out impact analyses based on the business requirements
• Work with the IT team, transport operators and other business units

Your profile

Required:

• 10+ years of experience (expert level)
• Business and functional analysis on IT projects in an Agile/Scrum methodology (10+ years)
• Methods for gathering business requirements (10+ years)
• Creating user stories based on analysis and specifications (10+ years)
• Design and modelling techniques, UML and BPMN (5+ years)
• Documenting functional requirements (5+ years)
• Defining test cases and test scenarios (5+ years)
• APIs and web services, REST and SOAP (5+ years)
• IBM MQ (5+ years)
• Elastic & Kibana (5+ years)
• SQL and PL/SQL (5+ years)

• Demonstrable experience writing functional and technical documents (work instructions, user guides)
