Job summary

Bridge351 is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for a European Union security agency. Based in The Hague, Netherlands, on-site 1 day per week, with possibility to base in Belgium. English required at least B2.

Ideal candidate has 8+ years in enterprise IT, 6+ years database administration for mission-critical systems, 5+ years MariaDB/MySQL and PostgreSQL, plus 2+ years Kubernetes, all in air-gapped on-prem environments. 100% remote opportunities exist where feasible.

Senior Database Administrator

Client: European Union security agency

Location: The Hague, Netherlands (on-site 1 day per week; can be based in Belgium)

Language: English (B2 or higher)

Mandatory Requirements

Professional experience

• 8+ years in complex enterprise environments, handling systems administration of large-scale ICT systems.
• 6+ years of database administration of mission-critical production databases with sensitive data, in high-security environments.
• 5+ years of database administration with MariaDB (or MySQL).
• 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL.
• 2+ years of database administration with Kubernetes.
• All of the above experience must be in on-premise, air-gapped environments.

Professional knowledge

• Containerised environments with databases and stateful datasets (persistent storage volumes).
• High availability and disaster recovery in containerised environments.
• Performance monitoring, analysis and optimisation of databases in containerised environments.
• Data modelling methodologies: conceptual and physical modelling, normalisation, and entity-attribute-relationship design.
• Complex enterprise architectures and advanced ICT solution design, including microservices.
• ITIL processes for the systematic management of complex IT environments.

Nice to have

Experience

• 2+ years with public or hybrid cloud services (Azure or AWS).
• 3+ years with high availability and disaster recovery clustering: HAProxy, Patroni, Galera, MaxScale.
• Database administration with Neo4j, Milvus, MongoDB or Cassandra.
• VMware virtualisation.
• Microsoft SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Windows Server Failover Clusters (WSFC).
• Business intelligence solutions: ETL, OLAP, Power BI.
• Database administration of all the DBMSs above in on-premise environments.
• Scripting and automation for DevOps pipelines, automated deployment, and database schema versioning: Puppet, Azure DevOps/TFS, Flyway, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform.

Knowledge

• Agile methodologies that bridge ICT development and operations.
• Data centre, infrastructure, security, storage, networking and service management technologies.
• Data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
