Pauwels Consulting is seeking a senior specialist to modernize and industrialize cloud database platforms. The role focuses on Azure-based enterprise database services, secure design, and cloud-native engineering with emphasis on automation.

You will design, implement, and govern CosmosDB and SQL-based solutions, drive data privacy across environments, and lead deployment frameworks using Terraform and CI/CD practices.

Our client, a leading organization in the insurance sector, is seeking a specialist to modernize and industrialize their cloud database platforms. This role involves designing, automating, and securing enterprise-grade database services in Azure while transitioning traditional practices toward a cloud-native engineering model.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy enterprise-grade database services within cloud landing zones, focusing on networking, security, and high availability.


• Establish governance and data modeling standards for CosmosDB and NoSQL environments.


• Industrialize data refresh, masking, and scrambling solutions to ensure data privacy and compliance across platforms.


• Develop and maintain reusable deployment frameworks using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.


• Perform performance analysis, troubleshooting, and capacity planning using advanced monitoring tools.


• Provide technical leadership and coaching to team members while ensuring operational excellence.

Requirements

• You possess 8+ years of experience in database administration with SQL Server and T-SQL.


• You bring 5+ years of cloud database engineering experience focusing on Azure SQL Database and Cosmos DB.


• You possess 5+ years designing and deploying infrastructure using Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and Azure DevOps.


• You have experience with cloud platform components including Azure Landing Zones, Private Endpoints, and Managed Identities.


• You bring proven expertise in performance troubleshooting using Azure Monitor, Query Store, and Extended Events.


• You possess strong knowledge of Azure KeyVault, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery strategies.


• You're a technical leader with a proactive, solution-oriented attitude and strong collaboration skills.


• You have a good command of English combined with a good knowledge of Dutch or French.

Nice to Haves

• Experience in highly regulated environments and building database governance frameworks.


• Knowledge of SQL Managed Instance, Azure Functions, or AKS.


• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, SQL Sentry, or Redgate.


• Experience with data modeling tools like Erwin or Azure Purview.


• Understanding of TOGAF or Archimate frameworks.
