You will prepare samples, perform experimental laboratory work, interpret imaging and spectroscopic data and present findings to multidisciplinary stakeholders. You will collaborate with specialists across formulation development, analytical development, material science and product performance while contributing to internal MRI expertise and scientific best practices.
Key responsibilities
- MRI method development: Develop and validate MRI methods for pharmaceutical materials, formulations and dosage forms.
- Pharmaceutical imaging: Investigate hydration, water ingress, disintegration, swelling, diffusion and dissolution related mechanisms.
- Product characterisation: Assess coating integrity, permeability, release behaviour, capsule disintegration and spatial heterogeneity.
- Device evaluation: Apply MRI to visualise internal movement, fluid distribution and functional performance of drug delivery systems.
- Suspension analysis: Study sedimentation, phase separation and resuspendability within dispersed pharmaceutical systems.
- Data interpretation: Translate imaging results into actionable formulation, process and product insights.
- Scientific collaboration: Support multidisciplinary studies across analytical development, formulation science and product performance.
- Laboratory execution: Prepare samples, conduct experiments and document results according to applicable procedures.
- Knowledge development: Establish procedures and fit for purpose interpretation practices for MRI based characterisation.
- Scientific communication: Present findings to internal stakeholders and communicate complex results clearly to non expert audiences.
Required competences & skills
- Education: Master’s degree in physics, chemistry or a related scientific discipline with strong affinity for complex instrumentation.
- Advanced academic background: A PhD or postdoctoral research background is a plus.
- MRI expertise: Hands on experience or strong knowledge of preclinical MRI instrumentation is highly preferred.
- Imaging analysis: Strong background in imaging processing and interpretation of imaging or spectroscopic datasets.
- Solid state NMR: Knowledge or practical experience with solid state NMR is a plus.
- Organic chemistry: Knowledge of organic chemistry is a plus.
- Digital capabilities: Experience with artificial intelligence or machine learning applied to image processing is a plus.
