NATO organisation in Belgium seeks a satellite communications engineer to take a solution from an operational requirement through acceptance testing, acting as technical lead on acquisition projects. You will write specifications, support evaluation, manage design, oversee testing, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure SATCOM architectures meet security, interoperability and performance goals.

Role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field with 3+ years of SATCOM experience, strong RF/antenna

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with at least 3 years of experience.
• At least 3 years of practical SATCOM experience across UHF and SHF domains.
• Deep knowledge of SATCOM architecture, link budgeting, modulation, error coding, and network layouts.
• Strong RF engineering and antennas knowledge for SATCOM bands.
• SATCOM cybersecurity architecture principles including encryption and secure design.
• Familiarity with DVB-S2/DVB-S2X, MIL-STD-188 and SDN in SATCOM environments.
• Experience with modern military networks, interfaces, protocols, and environments.
• Ability to write, analyse and comment on technical documents for non-specialists.

Responsabilités

• Provide technical leadership to acquisition projects with integrated, interoperable solutions.
• Develop specifications, support evaluation, and maintain design integrity through implementation.
• Supervise testing and acceptance activities at project end.
• Align solutions with enterprise standards, including security considerations.
• Plan scoping, requirements management, traceability, and change handling.
• Drive systems development, select methods/tools, and build roadmaps.
• Prepare questionnaires and tenders, produce evaluation criteria, and assess bids.
• Act as main technical contact with suppliers for contract management.
• Oversee design reviews and manage risks balancing functional and non-functional needs.
• Lead systems integration, testing, and continuous integration efforts.
