Role Description The Safety Engineer is a full-time role based in the Gent - Kortrijk Area. This role involves assessing industrial processes and equipment for compliance with safety regulations, standards, and best practices, with particular focus on process safety, machine safety, ATEX, fire safety, and hazardous materials. The Safety Engineer develops and implements safety concepts, conducts risk analyses and safety studies, and supports the design and review of technical solutions that enhance safe operations. Daily tasks include performing site inspections, preparing reports and documentation, advising project teams and clients on practical safety measures, and contributing to technical audits and master planning activities. The role also includes collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams, delivering safety-related training, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in occupational health, safety, and security.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Safety Engineering, including process safety, machine safety, ATEX, fire safety, and hazardous materials management.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health principles and practices, with experience implementing workplace safety programs and risk assessments.
• Understanding of industrial Security considerations, such as access control, emergency response planning, and incident prevention.
• Experience delivering Training related to safety procedures, emergency response, and safe use of equipment to diverse technical teams.
• Familiarity with Construction Safety standards and practices in industrial environments, including coordination with contractors and site supervision.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (e.g., safety, chemical, mechanical, industrial) or a related technical field.
• Experience in the process industry or manufacturing environment and working with European safety legislation and standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate regulations into practical technical solutions.
• Effective communication skills in English; additional proficiency in Dutch or French is an advantage.
• Ability to work on-site in the Gent - Kortrijk area, collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
