Job description

Join the BDO family, a worldwide consulting firm where you can bring your own personality to your job! We help organisations grow sustainably with our expertise in audit & assurance, tax & legal, advisory and accountancy.

At BDO, you are not just a number. Your wellbeing and development are just as important to us as the personal, hands‑on advice and pragmatic solutions we offer our clients. Because as you grow, so do we and so do our clients. That is why our slogan is 'Let's Grow Together'!

What will you be doing?

As a Risk Advisor, your duties are highly varied. Together with more experienced colleagues, you work on various risk‑related projects such as Risk Management, Internal Audits, Cyber Security and Data Privacy. In practice, this involves:

  • Gaining an understanding of a client’s current risk landscape, assessing the maturity of their capabilities and making recommendations.
  • Identifying and assessing vulnerabilities in clients’ control environments or processes through interviews and the inspection of systems and documents.
  • Carrying out certification processes at the client site, including the examination of business processes such as IT processes (security, continuity and change management).
  • Launching ethical social engineering attacks at clients as part of cyber security assignments.

You regularly come along to clients, but also spend a lot of your time at the office, where you mainly work on documentation and attend team meetings. You are basically involved in all aspects of the files assigned to you, while being able to count on your colleagues for the necessary support and feedback. It is important that you provide clear reports, as you are often working on several projects simultaneously. It is not unusual for you to work on four different files on the same day. Luckily, you handle deadlines and pressure well and can also rest a bit during calmer periods.

What do you bring to the table?
  • If you were to describe yourself, one of the first terms to come to mind would be “flexible”. Juggling multiple deadlines or dealing with several different files on the same day? A piece of cake for you.
  • You are happy to take the initiative and present new ideas, but also receptive to your colleagues’ point of view. You make sure to keep them informed of a project’s progress; team spirit is the way to go for you.
  • Your work is analytical and meticulous. You are capable of objectively and critically assessing your own and others’ work.
  • Stress? What’s that? You are good at setting priorities and handle deadlines well.Delivering work on time is not a problem for you.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English; French is also an important asset.
  • You will graduate with a Master’s degree in Commercial Engineering, Applied Economics, Applied Computer Science, Commercial Science, Risk Management, Computer Science or similar fields.
  • The following certifications are assets: CIA, CISA, CISSP, CFE, Certified DPO
What do we bring to the table?
  • Start in a general position and discover which types of clients, duties or specialisations suit you best. After the starters days, you will build your own career along with your other new colleagues.
  • Take on increasing amounts of responsibility as the rest of your team stands by, ready to support you.
  • BDO Academy’s extensive list of training courses helps you grow both personally and professionally.
  • Sample projects from other Business Practices through our “flex pool”.
  • Options to work from home or from the nearest office, for example, and flexible working hours.
  • A competitive salary package with many attractive benefits such as a net expense allowance, company car, mobile phone plan, hospitalisation insurance, etc.
  • Work at a company with an integrated sustainability policy on issues such as climate impact and equality, diversity and inclusion, which actively contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
