Job summary

European Space Agency is seeking a Cyber Security/Reverse Engineer in the System Security Section to contribute to national security assessment capabilities across space, ground, and user segments. The role emphasizes end‑to‑end security engineering, vulnerability research, and lab development from the study phase to verification.

The candidate should hold a master’s degree (or equivalent) with several years of relevant experience, including proficiency in C/C++, assembly, and modern security

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field or a bachelor’s degree with four additional years of relevant professional experience.
• Hands‑on experience in reverse engineering, exploitation and vulnerability assessment across IT and embedded‑system technologies.
• Strong C/C++ and assembly skills with ability to read unfamiliar code fluently.
• Proficiency with security evaluation methods and lab technologies.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Project Manager with recommendations and plans for test and evaluation laboratory capability development and technologies for security evaluation.
• Regularly reporting to the Project Manager on the status of assigned duties.
• Advising national customers and ESA experts on options for developing security evaluation capabilities.
• Deriving technical requirements and reviewing project proposals including security design, development, and validation.
• Fostering new security application areas for multidisciplinary activities in reverse engineering and security labs.
