Job summary

Ghent University invites applications for an Assistant position in the Department of Telecommunications and Information Processing. The role focuses half-time on academic research toward a doctoral dissertation in telecommunication and information processing, and the other half on assisting teaching and department services.

The start date is 1 December 2026 at the earliest, with a two-year 50% appointment that may be renewed twice for two years, subject to evaluation.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Engineering (degree required at start).
• Interest in academic/project-based research.
• Teaching experience or participation in extra training recommended.
• Excellent teaching and communication skills in English and Dutch.

Responsibilities

• Spend at least 50% of your assignment on academic research in preparation of a doctoral dissertation in telecommunication and information processing.
• Assist in the teaching activities at the department, specifically in telecommunication and information processing.
• Assist in the internal and external services of the department.
