Job summary

Movu Robotics in Belgium is seeking an experienced R&D Mechanical Engineer to drive development of mechanical components and modules for our intralogistics systems.

You will lead mechanical design in NX, select components, and work with controls and testing teams to validate PoCs, while preparing full production documentation. A strong CAD background and 5+ years in manufacturing/automation contexts are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics or a related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in material handling, manufacturing, automation, machine or aerospace industries.
• Mechanical focus with keen interest in the full product picture (controls, electronics, software).
• Proficiency with CAD tools, preferably NX.

Responsibilities

• Review current automated warehouse solutions based on performance, downtime, and specifications.
• Lead R&D activities for mechanical components and the full mechanical product.
• Develop a PoC and plan timelines per Movu’s Product Development Process.
• Design system modules using NX and select components.
• Produce full production files (BOMs, drawings, datasheets).
• Collaborate with controls, testing, and production teams to finalize designs.

Job Description

The R&D Mechanical engineer is responsible for the research and development of mechanical components and system modules. This includes conceptualization, design, engineering and testing of new prototype components and full systems.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• You review the current automated warehouse solutions based on performance, downtime, technical specifications, …
• You discuss with colleagues (R&D, Service, Testing, …) about improvement points of the Movu Robotics products.
• You take the lead on R&D activities concerning mechanical components and the full mechanical product.
• You develop a PoC and plan a timeline in accordance with Movu’s Product Development Process.
• You perform mechanical design of system modules (NX).
• You are responsible for component selection and calculation.
• You interface with controls specialists to design a complete, mechatronic, solution.
• You make full production files (BOM’s, drawings, datasheets).
• You manage design states and revisions in the PLM package.
• You discuss test specifications and set-up with the Test & Validation team.
• You review prototype testing reports and adapt the PoC accordingly.
• You work together with the production engineer concerning assembly training for the blue collars.

Qualifications

• You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics or a related field.
• You have at least 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in the material handling, manufacturing, automation, machine or aerospace industries.
• Your expertise is mainly mechanical, but you have a keen interest in the full product picture, including controls, electronics and software.
• You have knowledge and experience in CAD. You have experience with NX.
• You are an autonomous team player.
• English is a must (C1 or higher).
• Knowledge of Dutch is highly recommended.
