VITO EnergyVille seeks an R&D Expert Energy Market Modelling to translate complex energy questions into robust models and actionable insights for real-world decision-making. You will design and implement in-house energy market models, assemble data, run scenarios, and present clear recommendations to stakeholders across Belgium and the EU.

Fluent English and Dutch or French are essential in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in economics, engineering or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with how energy markets are organized in Belgium and the EU.
• Proficiency in Python and knowledge of energy market models or power system models.
• Advanced optimisation skills and fluent English.
• Dutch or French language proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

• Model and implement project activities.
• Translate real-world energy questions into modelling needs and scenarios.
• Further develop in-house energy market and system models.
• Assemble, clean and structure input data; generate quantitative results.
• Link modelling outcomes to practical implementation pathways.
• Communicate results to stakeholders with clear recommendations.
• Produce high-quality reports, papers and presentations.
• Expand professional network to enhance team impact.
