IMEC in Leuven, Belgium invites an experienced R&D Team Leader for Dry Etch to guide a multidisciplinary team in developing next-generation plasma etch solutions for logic, memory and 3D integration. You will steer technology roadmaps, ensure project execution and collaborate with internal and external partners.

The role emphasizes leadership, strategic thinking and hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced, international R&D environment.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in plasma etch process development for semiconductor manufacturing.
• Knowledge of dielectric etch processes, plasma-material interactions, profile control, etch selectivity, and pattern transfer.
• Experience with advanced patterning applications and semiconductor device integration.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical projects in a dynamic R&D environment.
• Strong people leadership, coaching, mentoring and performance development.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English.

Responsabilités

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of R&D engineers and researchers to foster technical excellence and collaboration.
• Define team priorities and allocate resources aligned with program needs and roadmaps.
• Drive development of advanced dielectric etch processes for patterning applications.
• Support solving plasma-material interaction challenges involving oxide, nitride, low-k, high-k materials.
• Collaborate with integration, lithography, metrology, CMP, deposition and device teams for module delivery.
• Translate requirements into executable plans, scorecards and milestones for timely execution.
• Balance short-term deliverables with long-term capability building and technology innovation.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing within the etch organization and across imec programs.
• Build relationships with suppliers, vendors and partners to drive innovation.
• Ensure safe fab operations and a high-performance, inclusive work environment.
• Represent the team in customer reviews and joint development programs.
