imec, the world‑leading nanotechnology research center, invites applications for an R&D Engineer in Dry Etch. Based in Leuven, Belgium, the role strengthens dry etch R&D activities in imec’s logic programs, spanning Front‑End and Middle‑Of‑Line processing and knowledge transfer to customers.

You will develop advanced dry etch solutions, work with cross‑functional teams, publish findings, and contribute to process technology transfers with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• PhD in science or engineering, or Master’s with relevant experience.
• Knowledge/experience in etch is an asset.
• Familiar with leading-edge logic tech (nanosheet/GAA, CFET).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain quality.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
• Team player with networking and reporting skills.
• Flexible attitude for varied tasks in an international setting.

Responsabilités

• Drive etch process development from concept to transfer with robust experiments.
• Identify etch and integration challenges and propose solutions.
• Report work to internal/external partners, write papers, file patents.
• Shape etch group roadmap by anticipating device challenges.
• Collaborate with device engineers to identify future needs.
• Coordinate non-standard work and transfers in imec’s fab.
• Lead joint development programs with external partners.
