Job summary

Michael Page is partnering with a well‑established food manufacturer in South West Flanders to recruit a Head of Quality & Food Safety. You will lead the quality organisation (10 FTE) and drive a culture of excellence across operations, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Director of Quality & R&D, you will oversee HACCP, traceability, allergen management, supplier quality and audits, with responsibility for BRC, IFS, RSPO and FDA standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in Food Science or related field.
• At least 10 years in quality and food safety within food manufacturing.
• Experience coaching and developing teams.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and manufacturing processes.
• Professional communication in Dutch, French, and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the quality organization (10 FTE) with clear priorities and accountability.
• Manage and continuously improve the quality and food safety management system.

• Lead and develop the quality organization, ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and team performance : 10 FTE (QA, QC & Safety).
• Manage and continuously improve the quality and food safety management system.
• Partner closely with Operations to identify risks and implement sustainable corrective actions on the production floor.
• Oversee HACCP, traceability, allergen management, supplier quality, product specifications, complaints, and product compliance.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain certifications including BRC, IFS, RSPO, and FDA standards.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, certification bodies, and public authorities while promoting a culture of shared responsibility for quality and food safety.
• N+1 : Director Quality and R&D / N+2 : CEO

The Successful Applicant

• Master's degree in Food Science, a scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in quality and food safety within the food industry.
• Proven experience managing, coaching, and developing teams.
• Strong expertise in quality management systems combined with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Professional communication skills in Dutch, French, and English, with a pragmatic and people-oriented leadership style.
