Job summary

HumanInTech is recruiting a data engineer for a Belgian public-sector policy division in Brussels. You will process, validate and link datasets to create maps, indicators and concise reports for policy questions and parliamentary inquiries.

The role requires 3+ years in data engineering, proficiency in Python/SQL/R, and knowledge of ETL and databases, plus Dutch CEFR C2. It is a 60% remote, 1 December 2026 to 31 December 2027 engagement.

Qualifications

• 3 years of demonstrable experience as a data engineer.
• Proficiency with Python, Java or Scala for data flows and ETL.
• Experience with Python, R, SQL and databases.
• Dutch at CEFR level C2 and experience in public sector or complex environments.
• Experience in ETL design and implementation and with ML is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Process, validate and link data from diverse sources.
• Transform data into overviews, maps, indicators and basic reports.
• Support quick analysis requests arising from policy processes.
• Collaborate with subject-matter experts and other data analysts.
