Description du poste

Crane Specialist. Technical Expert. Problem Solver.

As a Project Engineer, you combine engineering expertise with practical crane knowledge to develop technical solutions for some of the most challenging lifting operations worldwide. We are specifically looking for an experienced engineer with a strong affinity for Heavy Lift Cranes. From conventional crawler cranes up to colossal 2.500t crawler cranes and Sarens’ unique Giant Cranes, you assess technical feasibility, develop lifting concepts and provide expert advice for complex projects.

You are the go‑to person when specific crane‑related engineering questions arise. Working closely with project teams, CAD designers and operational colleagues, you translate engineering challenges into practical lifting solutions that make the impossible possible.

Not every engineer gets excited by cranes. This role is for someone who does.

Your Job In a Nutshell
  • Analyze engineering requests, project requirements, technical drawings and client information.
  • Develop tailor‑made lifting concepts and determine the most suitable crane configurations for complex heavy lifting projects.
  • Perform detailed technical calculations related to crane operations, lifting methodologies, and equipment selection.
  • Act as a technical reference for crane‑related engineering questions within the organization.
  • Support project teams with expert technical advice during project preparation.
  • Guide CAD designers in developing lifting plans and technical drawings.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation, calculations and technical deliverables.
  • Visit project sites to validate concepts, support execution and translate on‑site insights into improvements for future projects.
  • Continuously deepen your expertise in Sarens’ unique crane fleet.
About You.

Heavy lifting is more than your profession; it is something that genuinely interests you. You understand how cranes work, what influences a lifting operation, and which technical factors determine whether a lift is feasible. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and discussing solutions with colleagues who share the same passion for heavy lifting.

Profile Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent through experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within heavy lifting, crane engineering, offshore construction, marine contracting or a comparable environment.
  • Strong affinity with heavy lifting cranes and lifting operations.
  • Experience with crawler cranes, lattice boom cranes, ring cranes or similar heavy lifting equipment.
  • Ability to translate technical challenges into practical and workable lifting solutions.
  • Comfortable making technical calculations, developing lifting plans and concepts, and preparing or interpreting technical drawings.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with fellow project engineers, CAD designers and operational colleagues to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions.
  • Good communication skills in English, Dutch and/or French. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Curious, hands‑on and eager to further develop expertise in Sarens’ unique heavy lifting fleet.
You give some, you get some.

As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting some of Sarens’ most complex lifting operations worldwide. The combination of technical challenges, international context and unique equipment makes this a truly exceptional engineering opportunity.

  • A full‑time contract on indefinite duration (40h/week).
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Legal holidays and public holidays + 12 additional compensatory days.
  • An attractive salary package including company car, fuel car, meal vouchers, net allowance, group insurance, hospitalization insurance, laptop, smart phone, etc.
  • Extensive training and development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to work with some of the largest and most advanced cranes in the world.
  • International exposure and occasional site visits.
  • A team of passionate heavy lifting professionals who speak your language.
  • Place of employment: Wolvertem, Belgium.
