Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Ariad Group is seeking a freelance product designer for an independent contractor collaboration with a client in education technology. The assignment is initially three months, with a possible extension subject to project needs and mutual agreement.
The role requires four to five days per week, with a start as soon as possible. You will bring research and rapid prototyping to shape improvements, work with product and engineering, and present evidence-based design decisions.
Our client is an educational resources provider building digital platforms for teachers and learners. Its product team is improving the primary education experience, helping teachers find content, deliver lessons and make use of learning results. As a freelance product designer, you’ll bring research and rapid prototyping together to shape and test practical improvements with users and colleagues.
Educational publishing brings together learning content, teaching resources and the digital platforms used to access and deliver them. As well as books and other print materials, providers support teaching through online libraries, lesson tools and digital exercises. These platforms can also help teachers use learning results to inform their work. The mix of content, technology and classroom needs makes this a varied field for product design.
Explore teacher needs through platform data, interviews, school visits and feedback from an established teacher community.
Turn insights into ideas, then design and test them through working prototypes.
Create prototypes in a code-based environment connected to the design system, using AI-assisted workflows.
Work with product and engineering colleagues to improve search, navigation and teacher workflows.
Present your work and explain the evidence and reasoning behind your design decisions.
Senior-level product design experience spanning research, interaction design and visual execution.
Experience creating polished, usable prototypes and working with a design system.
Confidence using AI-assisted tools and a code-based prototyping environment; you do not need to be an engineer.
Useful, but not essential: Dutch language skills are strongly preferred; French is also valuable. Exceptional candidates without either will be considered.
