In The Pocket is seeking a Senior Product Designer to own the design process end-to-end, from discovery through polished UI. You’ll collaborate with strategists, engineers and clients in small, autonomous teams, taking the lead on design decisions and delivering developer-ready interfaces.

You will connect business goals with user needs, champion accessibility, contribute to design systems, and mentor junior colleagues.

Qualifications

Become a part of our team

You’ll join a client project team as a senior product designer, owning the design process end-to-end: from discovery and research through to polished, developer‑ready UI. You work closely with strategists, engineers, and the client, and you're comfortable leading design decisions while collaborating in a small, autonomous team.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Product designer you connect product strategy to product execution. You enjoy solving complex digital challenges and can drive a creative and collaborative approach to product development. Your ultimate goal is to boost usability and effectiveness through designs that look and work just great. You never take your eyes off the end user, because you know they are the ones who define the success of your work.

• Solve customer problems through thoughtful and elegant user experience design.
• Translate visions for digital products, platforms and services into compelling UI.
• Present your work to the client in well-crafted deliverables such as wireframes, clickable prototypes or concept presentations.
• Use an analytical mindset and critical thinking to validate/test and lead to user-centered solutions.
• Document detailed interaction models, UI specifications and visual language to ensure design consistency.

• Given that you will be working with leading companies on key strategic challenges, you demonstrate a high degree of ownership and responsibility.
• Act as a strong and passionate advocate for users and their needs; champion product quality and experience design.
• Communicate your ideas, opinions and design decisions effectively to ensure successful outcomes.
• Thrive in uncertainty, you can design a process or workshop to provide clarity when needed.
• Be self‑managed and coordinate collaboration with the project team to make sure your designs get translated into the actual product with quality and precision.
• Participate in growing our design practice by keeping your eyes open for important evolutions in our sector (including AI and emerging technologies) and sharing ideas to translate them into our projects.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted design partner.
• Actively contribute to the growth and development needs of peers across the design function. As a more experienced designer, you'll be expected to mentor junior colleagues and help elevate the team's capabilities.
• In our team we work by the 4 eye principle; you will work in pairs, often taking the lead role on projects while supporting and guiding others.
• Share your expertise and help shape our design culture, processes, and standards.

Who you are

• 5+ years of experience in Digital Product Design or UX/UI Design, with a proven track record of delivering impactful digital products.
• Strong understanding and practical experience with research methods and discovery practices. You can design and lead research activities and translate findings into actionable design decisions.
• You express yourself, your ideas and your work fluently in Dutch and English (both spoken and written).
• Proficient to expert in working with common design tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.), prototyping tools (Principle, ProtoPie, Framer, etc.) and user testing tools (Useberry, Maze, UserTesting, etc.).
• Solid experience working with scalable design systems and atomic design principles. You understand how to build and maintain design consistency across multiple products or platforms.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills. You can present confidently to stakeholders at various levels and articulate the value of your design decisions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks effectively.
• A fresh and innovative perspective on the future of digital design (including AI‑driven experiences) and a desire to continually learn, experiment and develop your skill set (both hard and soft skills) to grow and evolve as a designer.
• You understand end‑users are diverse and have demonstrated experience designing for accessibility and inclusion.
• Good working knowledge of Agile development processes (Scrum, Kanban, Lean UX, etc.).
• Familiarity with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, React, React Native, etc.) to effectively collaborate with engineers and understand technical possibilities and constraints.
• A strategic mindset that connects design decisions to business outcomes and user value.
• Experience with brand strategy and visual identity systems is highly valued.
• Interest or experience with AI and emerging technologies and how they can enhance product design and user experiences.
