Association for Fire Ecology seeks an Environmental Lands Management Technician (Tier 1) Prescribed Fire Crew in Florida. The role focuses on land management, ecological health, and public access across ELAPP preserves.

Responsibilities include maintaining trails, controlling invasive species, and supporting prescribed burn operations while engaging with volunteers and the public. Requires field experience and pesticide licensing within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; plus one year of field experience in environmental lands management.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License; must obtain Restricted Use Pesticide License-Natural Areas within 6 months of employment.
• Must pass basic firefighting training courses (S130, S190, L180) within 6 months of employment.

Responsabilités

• Maintain and improve ecological health, public access, and long-term sustainability of preserves and conservation lands.
• Support prescribed fire operations by preparing fire lanes and participating in burn activities.
• Maintain trails and facilities, control invasive species, habitat restoration, and environmental monitoring.
• Assist with public outreach activities and guided field trips.
