The Nature Conservancy in Hayward, Wisconsin seeks a Burn Crew Member to participate in wildland fire operations, including ignition, control, mop-up, suppression, and monitoring. Travel up to 16 weeks yearly; housing not provided; four 10-hour days per week with potential overtime.

Must obtain FFT2 certifications and maintain physical readiness. This full-time, on-site position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and ongoing professional development within a diverse fire management program.

Qualifications

• Must have a High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain FFT2 certifications (I-100, L-180, S-190, S-130) per TNC Fire Management Manual.
• Must meet local physical fitness standards and drive-related qualifications.
• Experience operating field equipment such as 4x4 vehicles, weed whackers, leaf blowers, and chainsaws.

Responsabilités

• Will perform prescribed fire and preserve management duties as conditions allow.
• Work in a high-stress, team-oriented environment under supervision.
• Perform heavy physical work in variable weather and challenging terrain.
• Maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
