Association for Fire Ecology is seeking an Environmental Lands Management Technician (Tier 2) to support the ELAPP program in Hillsborough County, Florida. The role focuses on land management, trail maintenance, and public engagement for conservation lands.

Responsibilities include invasive species control, habitat restoration, and assisting with prescribed fire operations, while coordinating volunteers and educating the public about stewardship of preserved lands.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED requirement.
• Three years of field experience in environmental lands management.
• Must obtain Restricted Use Pesticide License within 6 months.
• Must pass basic firefighting training (S130, S190, L180) within 6 months.

Responsabilités

• Plan and perform maintenance of access points, fire lanes, trails across ELAPP preserves.
• Maintain multi-use trails for hiking, horseback riding, biking, and canoeing.
• Install, repair, and maintain preserve infrastructure such as fences, gates, and locks.
• Plan and implement exotic and invasive plant control programs.
• Develop prescribed burn plans and assist in prescribed fire operations.
• Assist with habitat restoration and native vegetation planting.
• Lead guided field trips and educational tours to promote ELAPP stewardship.
