Capgemini Engineering in Belgium is seeking a Methods Engineer to optimise manufacturing and assembly processes for defence sector products. You will ensure compliance, quality, and efficiency on production lines and lead cross-functional collaboration across engineering, production, and quality teams.

The role requires an engineering degree and at least five years of relevant experience, with strong analytical skills and an ability to train operators and manage multiple projects concurrently.

YOUR ROLE

As a Methods Engineer, you will be at the core of manufacturing and assembly process optimisation, ensuring the compliance, quality, and efficiency of production lines in the defence sector.

• Analysing and determining the procedures to follow for each production line, taking into account best practices and applicable standards, and formalising the processes and procedures necessary for the smooth functioning of the organisation
• Creating manufacturing files and detailed work procedures for assembly operations, ensuring their compliance, as well as creating MBOMs (Manufacturing Bill of Materials) and writing technical specifications for products and purchasing requirements
• Supporting the production of pre-series and the start of the industrialisation of products, both in internal production and at suppliers, participating in supplier qualification and assessing their ability to produce in compliance with standards and deadlines
• Analysing existing manufacturing and assembly processes to identify opportunities for improvement in terms of efficiency, quality, and safety, collaborating closely with engineering, production, and quality control teams to ensure fluid communication and effective coordination
• Training and supervising operators on working methods and best practices, managing accreditations and their renewals, and overseeing the implementation of newly designed methods to ensure their effectiveness and compliance with established quality standards
• Performing production start-up audits to assess process compliance, and writing purchasing specifications for suppliers, ensuring consistency with the technical specifications and quality requirements expected for the products
• Monitoring and managing production tooling, providing technical support to suppliers, and contributing to the continuous improvement of production lines in a demanding and regulated defence environment

YOUR PROFILE

As a Methods Engineer, you are a rigorous and analytical professional with a solid expertise in electronic or electromechanical manufacturing and assembly processes, capable of working autonomously while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

• You hold an engineering degree or equivalent, and bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in the defence, aerospace, or a complex and regulated industrial environment; experience as a Process Engineer is considered a significant asset
• You possess solid knowledge of electronic or electromechanical assembly processes, with the ability to understand the principles of electronic circuits and to analyse manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities
• You demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to manufacturing processes, with a keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to continuous process improvement and quality compliance
• You are able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams
• You have a good level of English (mandatory), and bring a rigorous, methodical, and well‑organised approach to your work, with a strong sense of compliance and quality in highly regulated environments
