Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Mechanical Supervision within large industrial projects.
• Proven experience supervising construction, installation and commissioning in process industries.
• Experience within heavy industrial environments such as cement, metallurgy, mining, quarrying, steel, power generation, chemicals is highly desirable.

Responsabilités

• Lead and coordinate all on-site mechanical activities with a focus on zero-accident culture.
• Ensure health, safety, environmental and project standards are met.
• Monitor contractor performance and adherence to project requirements.
• Review and validate supplier designs and technical documentation.
• Support engineering reviews, procurement activities and purchase validation.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of mechanical systems.

• Lead cold and hot commissioning activities and start-up support.

Mechanical Supervisor (Freelance Contractor)

Our client, a leading industrial company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to support the execution of a large-scale industrial investment project.

This is a freelance/consultancy assignment offering the opportunity to play a key role in the construction, commissioning, and start-up in industrial decarbonization projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising all on-site mechanical activities while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Safety

• Lead and coordinate all on-site mechanical activities with a strong focus on achieving a zero-accident culture.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and project standards.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is executed according to project requirements.
• Review and validate supplier designs and technical documentation.
• Support engineering reviews, procurement activities, and purchase request validation during the project study phase.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
• Supervise mechanical installation activities throughout the execution phase.
• Lead and coordinate:
• Cold commissioning activities
• Hot commissioning activities
• Start-up support
• Performance and acceptance testing
• Ensure contractual, technical, and operational requirements are successfully met.

Mechanical Systems Oversight

Oversee the installation and commissioning of complex industrial equipment, including:

• Kiln and preheater systems
• Calciners
• Clinker coolers
• RTO systems
• SNCR systems
• Wet scrubbers
• Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) units
• Vertical Roller Mills (VRM)
• Raw material handling systems
• Water treatment facilities
• Compressed air systems

Documentation & Coordination

• Review technical drawings and installation documentation.
• Coordinate information flow between suppliers, engineering teams, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Ensure accurate reporting of site progress and mechanical completion activities.

Profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Mechanical Supervision within large industrial projects.
• Proven experience supervising construction, installation, and commissioning activities in process industries.
• Experience within cement, metallurgy, mining, quarrying, steel, power generation, chemicals, or other heavy industrial environments is highly desirable.

Heavy Industry Background: A Strong Asset

Candidates coming from heavy industry environments will be particularly valued for this role. Experience working with large rotating equipment, complex process installations, shutdowns, plant construction projects, or industrial commissioning activities will be considered a significant advantage.
