Optimus Search is seeking a Freelance Mechanical Engineer with hands-on design and development experience in industrial machinery. You will create and modify 2D/3D drawings, support prototyping and validation, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

This role is suited to engineers who want to stay close to the engineering work, work independently on a project basis, and collaborate with internal teams and suppliers as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in mechanical engineering within industrial machinery or production environments.
• Proficiency with mechanical design tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD.
• Sound understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., welding, machining, sheet metal).
• Ability to read and create technical drawings and BOMs.
• Comfortable working independently on a freelance/project basis.
• Fluent in English; Dutch or French is a plus depending on location.

Responsabilités

• Design and modify mechanical parts and assemblies for industrial equipment
• Produce and interpret detailed 2D/3D mechanical drawings (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD)
• Support prototyping, testing, and mechanical validation processes
• Perform basic mechanical calculations and select suitable materials/components
• Collaborate with internal technical teams (and where applicable, suppliers or manufacturers)
• Ensure work complies with technical and safety standards
• Assist in troubleshooting and continuous improvement of machinery designs

We are looking for a Freelance Mechanical Engineer with hands‑on experience in the design and development of industrial machinery. In this role, you will support mechanical design activities across a variety of manufacturing projects — from creating and modifying technical drawings to assisting in the development of mechanical systems and components.

Ideal for technically strong engineers who prefer staying close to the engineering work without being involved in project management.

Key Responsibilities
