Verhaert | On-site Consulting in Belgium is seeking a hands-on mechanical design engineer to create high-precision optical systems for Space, Defense, Life Sciences, and Industry. You will translate concepts into robust mechanical architectures and support integration from prototype to production.

The role emphasizes cleanroom testing, tight tolerances, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Responsabilités

• Architect advanced mechanical assemblies, integrating optical, thermal, and structural constraints early.
• 3D modeling, drawings, and technical reports (BOMs, calculations, design rationale).
• Define tight tolerances and functional dimensions for reliable manufacturing.
• Coordinate integration and testing, including cleanroom activities.
• Collaborate with suppliers on parts, specs, and quotes.
• Drive continuous improvements balancing performance, cost, and deadlines.

Description du poste

Under the guidance of the Mechanical Coordinator of our client, you will play a key role in designing high-precision optical systems for Space, Defense, Life Sciences, and Industry.

What you’ll do:

• Design & Engineering: Architect advanced mechanical assemblies, integrating optical, thermal, and structural constraints right from the start.
• Prototyping & Documentation: Bring concepts to life through 3D modeling, detailed drawings, and thorough technical reports (BOMs, calculations, design rationale).
• Precision & Quality: Define tight tolerances and functional dimensions to ensure absolute reliability and ease of manufacturing.
• Hands-on Integration: Partner with multidisciplinary teams to assemble, integrate, test, and troubleshoot prototypes—including cleanroom testing.
• Vendor Collaboration: Work directly with suppliers on custom parts, technical specifications, and quotes.
• Continuous Improvement: Optimize mechanical solutions to balance peak performance, cost, and deadlines.
