VeroTech is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead electro-mechanical hardware design for implant systems, moving ideas from concept to manufacturable solutions. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across clinical partners and suppliers to ensure safety, quality and compliance throughout the development cycle.

In this VeroTech consultancy role, you will take ownership of electro-mechanical hardware design for implant systems and their associated surgical implementation. You will move ideas from early concept to product development by defining requirements, shaping concepts and turning them into safe, effective and manufacturable solutions. The work spans analysis, prototyping and verification and validation, with a strong focus on quality and compliance throughout the development cycle.
You will collaborate with engineers, manufacturing colleagues, surgeons and clinical partners to refine designs, resolve technical questions and keep deliverables aligned with project timelines, budget and scope. The role also supports continuous improvement and technical leadership across assigned work packages.
Design and develop electro-mechanical hardware for implant applications
Define requirements, frame critical technical questions and build plans to answer them for new concepts
Create and maintain CAD 3D models, mechanical drawings and associated product data with manufacturability in mind
Conduct engineering analyses, including brainstorming, concept generation, risk analysis, simulation, DFMEA and design reviews
Coordinate procurement and prototyping with suppliers and subcontractors, and support prototype and verification builds with manufacturing
Prepare and execute test plans, protocols and reports for verification and validation, including test methods and setups
Collaborate with surgeons, clinical partners and internal stakeholders to optimize designs and mentor students or junior engineers when needed
You bring a strong mechanical engineering foundation, hands-on development experience and the ability to keep complex technical work moving in a regulated environment. You combine precision, adaptability and clear communication across disciplines.
Master's degree or equivalent by experience in electro-mechanical, mechatronic or (bio)medical engineering
10 years of experience in design and development, including 3D CAD
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in prototyping and verification of designs
Strong 2D and 3D CAD modelling skills, including mechanical drawings and tolerancing, preferably with PTC Creo
Solid understanding of verification and validation principles
Fluent English in writing and speaking; an EMEA language is a plus
A pragmatic problem-solving mindset, with the ability to plan, organise and control tasks towards project goals and deliver through others
Knowledge of implantable medical devices; experience with suppliers and subcontractors is an advantage
