Mackay Marine in Antwerp is seeking an experienced Marine Service Engineer to install, service and repair electronic equipment on board commercial ships. Under limited supervision you will work with RF, radar, and navigation systems.

Your duties include testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting electronics, drafting detailed service reports, and updating software as needed. Fluency in English and a valid passport are required, with previous FCC Radar endorsement and GMDSS preferred.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent technical certifications and experience.
• 3+ years of experience as Marine Service Engineer or Marine Electronics Technician in commercial shipping.
• Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement preferred
• GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred
• Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying 10-23 kg., climbing ladders/masts, and exposure to weather.
• Must have a valid passport, driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsabilités

• Install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board commercial ships.
• Test, adjust, and troubleshoot electronic components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas; load and update software.
• Use RF knowledge and schematics to address technical problems and prepare detailed service reports.
• Address RF systems and navigation equipment as part of maintenance and fault finding.
• Compose a detailed service report documenting work performed.

Marine Service Engineer Job Overview

Under limited supervision, Marine Service Engineers (aka Marine Service Technician) install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board commercial ships. They test, adjust, and troubleshoot electronic components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas as well as load, update, and modify software. Marine Service Engineers use their knowledge of radio frequencies (RF), electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems and make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments and compose a detailed service report.

Marine Service Engineer Qualifications
