Job summary

IC Resources in Belgium is seeking an experienced Photonics Design Engineer to lead the development of high-speed optical circuit switching technology on an advanced integrated photonics platform.

You will design innovative optical circuit switches, develop PIC circuits for switching demonstrators, and assess system trade-offs including speed, insertion loss, crosstalk and scalability. Collaborate with business development to align market needs with technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or above in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field.
• 3+ years in photonics or high-speed integrated systems.
• Strong silicon photonics and PIC design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design innovative optical circuit switches and switching architectures.
• Develop PIC optical circuits for high-speed switching demonstrators.
• Explore system-level trade-offs including speed, loss, crosstalk and scalability.
• Design control-loop, bias-control and calibration strategies for fast, stable switching.
• Specify high-speed electronics to drive and stabilise the optical switch.
• Build and validate prototypes and demonstrators.
• Analyze performance and feed results back into platform development.
• Work with business development to translate market requirements into technical solutions.
