Job summary

element61 is seeking a Senior Databricks Data Engineer to join our Data Platform & Data Engineering Team. You will own end-to-end data platforms on Databricks for clients, defining architectures and guiding colleagues.

You will work hands-on to deliver analytics-ready platforms, collaborate with customers, translate ambitions into concrete deliverables, and coach teams on best practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a data engineer or in BI, with 2+ years in the cloud (preferably Azure) and ETL jobs you designed, built and maintained.
• Strong data modelling and coding skills (SQL, Python, PySpark).
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, streaming and CDC.
• Hands-on use of AI in engineering work and willingness to expand it.
• Databricks Certification (Data Engineer Associate or Professional) is a plus or open to obtaining it.
• Team-oriented problem solver who translates customer questions into design and communicates choices clearly.
• Enthusiastic about being part of a growing team and industry.
• Resides in Belgium.
• Fluent in English and either Dutch or French.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain ETL pipelines and data models on Databricks, with Spark and Delta Lake.
• Implement streaming and Change Data Capture with Lakeflow and Declarative Pipelines.
• Establish governance and access control in Unity Catalog.
• Bring AI into the platform with Databricks Genie and Genie Spaces.
• Translate customer questions into technical solutions and implement the design in Databricks.
• Coach colleagues and client teams, and review their work.
