Job summary

Aerospacelab is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the production engineering team in Belgium. You will design and detail the mechanical structure of automated production and inspection machines, collaborating with automation, controls, and manufacturing engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical/electromechanical engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or projects count).
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent).
• Solid grasp of mechanical design fundamentals (tolerancing, material selection, fastening, kinematics).
• Ability to read and produce technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and sub-assemblies for automated production and inspection cells using 3D CAD.
• Select and size standard mechanical components (linear guides, actuators, bearings, pneumatic/hydraulic elements).
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and support procurement and machining of custom parts.
• Support assembly, integration, and commissioning of mechanical subsystems on the shop floor with others.
• Contribute to basic structural and kinematic calculations for new machine designs.
