Java Developer (Docker, Kubernetes) - Belgium (Dutch and English Speaking)

As a Senior Java Full Stack Developer, you will work within the Digital Solutions department of a Flemish public organization dedicated to water management, air quality, and climate adaptation. You will contribute to a large-scale digitalization and modernization program initiated in response to evolving European regulations.
The assignment involves the development and modernization of business-critical applications for data registration, validation, and reporting, including the supporting integrations and data platforms. You will participate in the analysis, development, testing, and implementation of new functionalities within a complex Java ecosystem and help shape a future-proof application landscape.
Required Skills (Must-Have)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in developing Java-based applications (Senior level).
- Relevant education, certification, or proven experience in Java/J2EE and related technologies.
- Experience with JUnit.
- Experience with Angular (versions 2 through 17).
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of and hands-on experience with Public Cloud Infrastructure.
Preferred Skills (Should-Have)
- Experience with Spring Framework.

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Java Developer, you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and/or preparing technical analyses and solution designs in collaboration with the organization's architects.
- Developing functionalities as defined in functional and technical specifications.
- Defining interfaces between the various layers of the application architecture.
- Developing Spring Boot backend services and security components.
- Developing Angular single-page applications (SPAs).
- Potentially developing Node.js backend-for-frontend (BFF) services.
- Creating and maintaining unit tests in support of Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.
- Ensuring compliance with non-functional requirements such as performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Conducting peer code reviews in accordance with GitFlow principles.
