Job summary

g2 Recruitment is seeking a Senior Accountant for a freelance opportunity based in Brussels, Belgium. The contract is 6–12 months with a hybrid working arrangement in an international finance environment.

You will manage general ledger, monthly closings, Belgian GAAP/IFRS, VAT declarations, and balance sheet reconciliations, while coordinating AP/AR and ERP optimisation projects. Fluency in English plus Dutch and/or French is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an international organisation.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and Belgian VAT regulations.
• Experience with month-end and year-end closings.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics).

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger accounting and daily financial operations.
• Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with Belgian GAAP and IFRS.
• Manage VAT declarations and ensure compliance with Belgian accounting regulations.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and journal entries.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Support accounting process improvements and ERP optimisation projects.
