VITO/EnergyVille in Genk is seeking an experienced R&D Expert Energy Market Modelling to turn complex energy market questions into robust models and actionable insights for projects, consultancy and in-house tool development.

You translate market challenges into modelling needs, assemble data, run analyses and present clear recommendations to stakeholders. The role offers hybrid work from EnergyVille Genk with options across Belgium.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in economics, engineering, or relevant field with at least three years of experience.
• Knowledge of how energy markets are organised in Belgium and the EU.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Familiar with energy market models or power system models.
• Advanced optimization skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Fluent in Dutch or French.

Responsabilités

• Modelling and implementation activities within projects.
• Translate real-world energy market questions into modelling needs and define scenarios.
• Further develop in-house energy market and system models.
• Assemble, clean and structure input data; generate quantitative results.
• Link modelling outcomes to practical implementation pathways and solutions.
• Interpret and communicate results to stakeholders with clear recommendations.
• Prepare high-quality reports, papers and presentations.
• Expand professional network to strengthen impact and scientific excellence.
