Job summary

BESIX is seeking a Cost Control Manager for its Belgium Luxembourg Business Unit. You will oversee cost control for multiple construction projects, lead a team of cost controllers, and partner with senior stakeholders to drive accurate forecasting, reporting and financial performance in line with IFRS.

The role requires a strategic finance leader with strong analytical skills, a track record in cost control, and the ability to influence project managers and senior leaders across BELUX.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration or a related field.
• At least ten years of relevant professional experience, including five years in cost control, project controlling or a comparable role.
• Proven experience leading and developing finance professionals.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear business recommendations.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with financial reporting tools.
• Fluent in Dutch, French and English.
• Willingness to visit construction sites across Belgium and Luxembourg.
• Coaching and team development.
• Pro‑active Stakeholder management with good communication skills.
• Constructive challenge and sound judgement.
• Ability to influence Project Managers and senior leaders.
• Capacity to prioritise across multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Team leadership: Lead a growing team of approximately 12 Cost Controllers and manage around five direct reports.
• Consolidation and financial reporting: Own the consolidation of project results across BELUX with IFRS alignment and timely reporting to the Finance Director.
• Project cost control: Oversee cost control for one construction project during onboarding, including forecasting, actual-cost follow-up and cash-flow planning.
• Process improvement and business partnering: Produce studies across Belgium Luxembourg and propose actionable points.

About the Role

For our Belgium Luxembourg Business Unit, we are currently looking for a Cost Control Manager. The Finance Department of Belgium Luxembourg is responsible for monitoring and managing the financial performance of approximately 100 construction projects, representing a total annual revenue of around €500 million.

Your Responsibilities

Team leadership

• Leading a growing team of approximately 12 Cost Controllers
• Directly managing approximately five team members
• Drive continuous improvement within the team by strengthening knowledge sharing, peer review practices and collaboration
• Ensuring consistent cost‑control standards across the business unit
• Coaching team members and supporting their professional development

Consolidation and financial reporting

• Own the consolidation of project results across BELUX, ensuring that forecasts, actuals and reported economic results are complete, coherent and reconciled with the accounting records in accordance with IFRS. All details must be correct.
• Cooperate pro‑actively with the accountants, especially during the monthly closing processes.
• Respect deadlines to report results and analyses to the Finance Director of Belgium Luxemburg on due time.
• Pro‑actively build up the monthly reports and start collecting the info from several stakeholders.

Project cost control

• During your onboarding period, you will take end‑to‑end responsibility for the cost control of one construction project. This hands‑on involvement will enable you to understand the operational processes, reporting requirements and challenges faced by the Cost Controllers you will lead.
• This includes forecasting, actual‑cost follow‑up, cash‑flow planning, ageing analysis and coordination with the Project Manager and technical operational teams on site.
• You are responsible for reporting checked and coherent figures, to keep the economic result of the project completely in line with the bookkeeping following IFRS standards.

Process improvement and business partnering

• You prepare studies all over the projects of Belgium Luxembourg and are able to communicate a structured conclusion with a proposition of possible action points.
