Robert Half Talent Solutions is seeking a Head of Compliance (m/f/x) for a permanent position based in Brussels. The role leads the compliance function for a newly established Belgian non-life entity within a large international group.

You will design, implement and oversee the compliance framework, interact with senior management and regulators, and drive risk-based programmes while promoting a strong compliance culture across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Certified compliance officer for the insurance sector.
• 8+ years of compliance experience in a regulated financial services environment.
• Strong knowledge of Solvency II governance and internal controls.
• Excellent communication with governance bodies and regulators.

Robert Half Talent Solutions is currently looking for a Head of Compliance (m/f/x) for a permanent position based in Brussels.

Our client is an international leading insurance group serving both retail and business customers through insurance (life and non-life) and reinsurance activities.

As part of its continued growth and development, the Group is establishing a specialised non-life insurance company in Belgium that will support international insurance activities through MGA and B2B2C business models across Europe. To strengthen the governance framework of this newly created entity, our client is looking to appoint a Head of Compliance.

What you’ll do :

As Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing the compliance framework of the Belgian insurance entity. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior management and the Board, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while helping the business navigate an evolving regulatory environment.

As Head of Compliance (m/f/x), your responsibilities will include:

• Implementing and managing the compliance function in line with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
• Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and assessing their impact on the organisation, in close cooperation with the Legal function.
• Translating regulatory requirements into clear internal policies, procedures and practical guidance.
• Establishing and maintaining a robust compliance risk assessment framework, including risk identification, evaluation and monitoring.
• Developing and executing an annual risk-based compliance plan focused on key regulatory priorities.
• Monitoring adherence to compliance policies and recommending appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
• Preparing and presenting compliance reports to management, governance bodies and external stakeholders.
• Building and maintaining constructive relationships with regulatory authorities and coordinating regulatory interactions.
• Escalating significant compliance issues to senior management, the Board, Group Compliance and regulators when required.
• Advising management and business stakeholders on compliance implications of strategic initiatives and business projects.
• Promoting a strong compliance culture across the organisation through awareness initiatives and training programmes.
• Managing whistleblowing-related alerts and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
• Further developing the compliance function by combining strategic oversight with hands-on execution.
• Ensuring alignment with Group compliance standards, policies and reporting requirements.

Who you are :

• Master's degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Auditing or a related discipline.
• Certified compliance officer for the insurance sector
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience within Compliance in a regulated financial services environment.
• Strong expertise in Non-Life insurance compliance
• Strong understanding of the insurance sector and its regulatory framework.
• Proven knowledge of applicable financial services regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience in, or solid understanding of, risk management and operational audit principles.
• Demonstrated experience interacting with supervisory authorities.
• Strong knowledge of Solvency II governance, compliance and internal control framework requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Fluent in English and in either French or Dutch.
