Job summary

Opus Recruitment Solutions Limited is seeking a Head of Application Development Europe to lead a large-scale technology function across Europe, shaping the strategy for Software Development, Data Platforms, Integration Services, Automation & AI, and Digital Products. You will report to the European IT Director and oversee delivery across multiple countries.

You will guide roadmaps, drive delivery excellence, and ensure secure, scalable platforms aligned to business objectives while collaborating

Qualifications

• Proven technology leader with significant experience managing enterprise-scale Application Development across geographies.
• Expertise spanning Data, Integration, Software Engineering, Digital Products, Automation & AI, and cloud platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Azure and/or GCP, DevOps, enterprise architecture and IT governance.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver the European Application Development strategy across Europe.
• Lead a team of four senior managers and 50–75 technology professionals.
• Shape technology roadmaps and drive delivery excellence across major initiatives.
• Ensure business-critical platforms remain secure, scalable, and aligned to objectives.

Head of Application Development | Automation | Data | Logistics | Hybrid, Antwerp | €10k

I'm currently partnering with a leading international organisation that is investing heavily in its digital transformation journey and is looking to appoint an experienced Head of Application Development Europe to lead a large-scale technology function across multiple countries.

This is a strategic leadership position responsible for defining and delivering the European Application Development strategy across key areas including Software Development, Data Platforms, Integration Services, Automation & AI, and Digital Products. Reporting directly to the European IT Director, you'll lead a team of four senior managers and oversee a wider function of approximately 50-75 technology professionals across Europe.

The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping technology roadmaps, driving delivery excellence, overseeing major application and digital transformation initiatives, and ensuring business-critical platforms remain secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned to business objectives. You'll work closely with senior business stakeholders, operational leaders, and global technology teams to translate strategic goals into technology-enabled solutions while maintaining strong governance, budget control, supplier management, and service performance.

Core requirements:

Proven technology leader with significant experience managing complex, enterprise-scale Application Development functions across multiple geographies. You'll bring expertise spanning areas such as Data, Integration, Software Engineering, Digital Products, Automation & AI, alongside strong knowledge of enterprise applications, cloud platforms (preferably Azure and/or GCP), DevOps, enterprise architecture, application portfolio management, and IT governance.
