Job summary

Kemin Industries in Belgium is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to support the finance team in Herentals. You will own the full accounting cycle for the Belgian entity, post journal entries, manage month-end and year-end close, and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.

The role requires Dutch and English fluency, strict attention to detail, and collaboration across finance functions. You will contribute to VAT/compliance, fixed assets, and statutory accounts, while driving process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in a broad accounting role with full A-Z responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP, VAT and statutory reporting.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and annual accounts.
• Experience with external auditors and tax advisors; advanced Excel and ERP exposure.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete accounting cycle for the Belgian entity.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, provisions and payroll-related entries.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare VAT returns, Intrastat declarations and other statutory filings.
• Support corporate income tax reporting and annual statutory accounts.
• Ensure Belgian GAAP adherence, internal controls, and Kemin policies.
• Coordinate internal/external audits and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.
• Review P&L and balance sheet accounts to provide financial insights.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, HR and other partners.
• Identify opportunities to improve, standardize and automate accounting processes.
• Support ad hoc reporting, projects and business initiatives.

Qualifications

What will make you successful

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a broad accounting role with full A-Z accounting responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP, VAT, and statutory reporting requirements
• Proven experience managing month-end close, accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and annual accounts
• Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems
• Fluent Dutch and English
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an international environment
