Pauwels Consulting in Brussels is seeking a Functional Analyst to join the real-time operations team. You will translate business needs into detailed functional specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria, and you will design system-to-system interfaces for live data flows with external infrastructure managers to ensure regulatory compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in functional analysis, producing functional specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• 2+ years of experience in traffic management systems or similar operational environments such as logistics, aviation, or utilities.
• Experience specifying system-to-system integrations using REST, SOAP, JSON, or XML.
• Ability to write SQL queries independently for data investigation, including SELECT, JOIN, and aggregation.
• Knowledge of interface modeling and protocols such as message-based or event-based architectures.
• Fluent in English with at least a B2 level of Dutch or French.

The role focuses on implementing and configuring data flows between internal systems and external infrastructure managers to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

• Translate business and user requirements into detailed functional specifications, including features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Design and specify system-to-system interfaces, defining payload structures, error handling, and performance requirements for real-time contexts.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and testers to ensure technical feasibility and consistency throughout the implementation phase.
• Investigate data and validate business rules using SQL to qualify defects and ensure high data quality.
• Manage project documentation and participate in defect reviews, UAT campaigns, and release activities.

• You have 3+ years of professional experience in functional analysis, including the production of functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• You possess 2+ years of experience within traffic management systems or similar operational environments such as logistics, aviation, or utilities.
• You bring proven experience specifying system-to-system integrations using REST, SOAP, JSON, or XML.
• You're able to write SQL queries independently for data investigation, including SELECT, JOIN, and aggregation.
• You possess knowledge of interface modeling and protocols such as message-based or event-based architectures.
• You are fluent in English with at least a B2 level of Dutch or French.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with process and interaction modeling using BPMN, UML, or use cases.
• Knowledge of OpenAPI, XSD, or conceptual data modeling.
