Stott and May is seeking an experienced Functional Analyst to join our Brussels-based payments technology team. You will bridge business requirements with technical delivery in a cross-functional, Agile environment, focusing on secure, scalable payment solutions for international clients.

In this 6-month, full-time role, you will analyse APIs and banking products, contribute to API design (Swagger/OpenAPI), coordinate across multiple squads, and support testing, deployments and production

Qualifications

Responsabilités

• Understand requirements with Business Analysts and stakeholders to identify suitable technology solutions.
• Translate requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications, features and user stories.
• Analyse solution options considering enterprise architecture, security, cost, benefits and feasibility.
• Define solution architecture and assess API impacts with architects and tech teams.
• Coordinate across multiple application and technology teams to align dependencies.
• Produce detailed functional specifications and technical analyses for dev/test teams.
• Support developers and Test Engineers through development, integration and testing.
• Define and support APIs, including Swagger-based specifications.
• Assist with test scenarios, defects and complex issue resolution.
• Support release, deployment and production implementation activities.
• Analyse production incidents and coordinate resolution; maintain documentation.
• Collaborate with Agile squads and third-party suppliers; drive continuous improvement.

Functional Analyst

Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid – 50% onsite / 50% remote)

The Role

We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation to recruit an experienced Functional Analyst to join an international payments technology team in Brussels.

The role sits within a multicultural, Agile environment focused on developing and enhancing payment products, solutions and services. You will work as part of a cross-functional squad, bridging business requirements, functional analysis, architecture, development and testing to deliver secure, scalable and reliable payment solutions.

The role will involve working across modern payment technologies and APIs, with exposure to innovative payment approaches including Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and blockchain-oriented payment rails.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners and business stakeholders to understand requirements and identify appropriate technology solutions.
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical requirements, Features and User Stories.
• Analyse solution options, considering enterprise architecture, security, cost, benefits and technical feasibility.
• Work with architects and technical teams to define solution architecture and application impacts.
• Coordinate across multiple application and technology teams to ensure requirements, responsibilities and dependencies are clearly understood.
• Produce detailed functional specifications and technical analysis for development and testing teams.
• Support developers and Test Engineers throughout development, integration and testing.
• Define and support APIs, including Swagger-based API specifications.
• Assist with test scenarios, defect analysis and resolution of complex issues.
• Support release, deployment and production implementation activities.
• Analyse production incidents, coordinate resolution and maintain supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with other Agile squads, technology teams and third-party suppliers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across the team's Agile delivery practices.

Essential Skills & Experience

• At least 7 years' experience working as a Functional Analyst or in a closely related technical analysis role.
• Strong functional and technical understanding of IT systems and enterprise application environments.
• Proven experience gathering, analysing and translating business requirements into detailed functional and technical requirements.
• Experience with API design and development, including Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Strong knowledge of banking and payment products.
• Experience analysing payment processes and payment-related requirements.
• Understanding of structured analysis methodologies and solution design.
• Practical experience working within Scrum and Agile delivery environments.
• Experience working across development, testing, architecture and technical delivery teams.
• Strong documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear and precise functional and technical analysis.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders and coordinating across complex technology environments.

Desirable Experience

• Experience within international payments or cross-border payments.
• Exposure to Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), blockchain or emerging payment technologies.
• Experience working with Java-based technology environments.
• Experience working with APIs and enterprise integrations.Experience supporting production applications and resolving technical incidents.
• Experience working with third-party technology suppliers.

Education & Languages

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• English: mandatory.
