As a Business Analyst at TDI, you will play a key role in the digital transformation of the Assets department. Our Client has set ambitious targets for improving efficiency and quality. We must also support the energy transition, the growth of renewable energy and the nuclear phase-out. Achieving these objectives requires extensive digitalisation of our activities and the tools that support our people. In addition, we must harmonise our processes between Our Client and our German sister company.
The Assets department is primarily responsible for maintaining the high-voltage electricity grid and commissioning grid extensions. Safety, quality and efficiency are our core values.
The Business Analyst is responsible for designing efficient business processes. You will also capture business needs and translate them into specifications for IT systems. You will bridge the gap between the business teams and users on the one hand, and the various IT partners—functional analysts, project managers, architects, etc.—on the other, constructively challenging all parties. The objective is to develop and maintain the IT tools needed to support business processes effectively and pragmatically.
We are looking for several Business Analysts to support our digitalisation projects:
- Digitalising and optimising outage planning, i.e. temporarily taking parts of the grid out of service for maintenance. Due to risks to security of supply and the complexity associated with renewable energy, outage planning is becoming increasingly difficult and is a crucial step in the maintenance process.
- Digitalising and automating switching operations, i.e. taking parts of the grid out of service and bringing them back into service. Switching high-voltage grid components is a complex, high-risk activity. Consequently, processes include numerous checks, making them cumbersome. Digitalisation will enable these activities to be carried out faster and more safely.
- Improving processes relating to the operational safety of our technicians and the supporting IT applications. A high-voltage grid is an extremely dangerous environment for technicians. The objective is to improve our people’s safety while making activities more efficient, including through the automation and digitalisation of certain activities or steps.
- Supporting the maintenance of offshore infrastructure. To support offshore wind farms, Our Client must maintain an increasing amount of infrastructure at sea. This creates specific needs for which appropriate business processes and supporting IT applications must be developed.
- Improving administrative support for our operational services, both for people in the field and experts in administrative centres, across their end-to-end activities. The objective is to develop efficient administrative processes that can be implemented using standard SAP functionality wherever possible. Within Assets, we mainly use the Plant Maintenance module (SAP PM).
Specifically, the tasks include:
- Modelling business processes and supporting business teams in redesigning them.
- Identifying business needs and translating them into agreed business requirements in the form of epics and user stories.
- Constructively challenging business teams on their needs and proposed future processes.
- Developing the required business information models, describing the information needed to fulfil the various requirements.
- Harmonising business processes across Our Client’s departments and between Our Client Assets and our German sister company.
- Aligning requirements between business and IT and obtaining validation from both.
- Validating the functional analysis produced by IT.
- Testing and validating releases following the implementation of a tool.
- Playing an active role in change management, including preparing training materials and delivering training to end users, in line with the existing change management methodology and supported by the change management toolkit.
- Supporting business teams in using IT tools after implementation.
Additional requirements:
- Excellent command of Dutch, French and English is required.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience as a Business Analyst in identifying needs, defining business requirements and designing business processes.
- A master’s degree in a technical or economic field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical skills and a critical mindset. You are confident in challenging assumptions and proposals.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. You can build consensus and convince different stakeholders.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- A customer-focused approach and flexibility.
- For the administrative support project, basic knowledge of SAP PM is required, or a willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of BPMN and UML.
- Experience using EA (Enterprise Architect), Jira and TFS DevOps is a plus.
- Experience in the electricity sector adds value.
- Experience in industrial asset maintenance is a plus.
