Job summary

Mediahuis nv seeks an experienced Freelance GitLab Platform Engineer based in Belgium to strengthen and secure our critical GitLab platform. You will improve automation, monitoring, and platform governance while collaborating with Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, Architecture and Development teams.

You will work from our Antwerp office two days per week, with the assignment starting ASAP in Q4 2026 and running at least until end of 2026, with potential extension into 2027.

Qualifications

• Hands-on with GitLab Self-Managed and Premium deployments.
• Strong Linux, Kubernetes, monitoring and logging skills.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen and harden the GitLab platform, focusing on accounts, tokens and access management.
• Improve monitoring, logging and alerting for a stable platform.
• Review and enhance GitLab CI/CD, runners and container registry.
• Support GitLab upgrades, lifecycle management and patching.
• Automate and document platform management and configuration.
• Collaborate with Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, Architecture and Development teams.
• Share expertise with internal engineers and contribute to future platform evolution, including SaaS/managed GitLab options.
